The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government initiative that provides funding for people living with disabilities. It has been set up to allow adults and children living with disabilities to decide how they want their care, support and services delivered. It is important that you do some research on an NDIS Provider that you are planning to acquire services from before registering with them.

Here are a few things to keep an eye out for.

Are they experienced NDIS Service Providers?

Check that the NDIS Provider offers the services you want and that they are skilled at providing them. It is critical to select an NDIS provider who knows the requirements of persons with specific impairments. This allows them to give care and assistance that is especially suited to your disability – not every NDIS provider will do this, so make sure to ask. Find out more about their rules and processes regarding working hours and scheduling requests before joining up with one. After all, everyone deserves to know that their NDIS plan will be carried out in such a way that they get the most out of it!

Ask about costs

Many providers may not charge any upfront costs, instead of charging an hourly rate or a percentage fee from your package; be sure you understand how much money will be charged. If there are any additional fees, such as transportation, ask them what they are so you are prepared rather than finding yourself short on funds unexpectedly! Also, find out whether their employees are paid for any additional hours they may need to work outside of the NDIS package.

Check that they are an NDIS Registered Provider with the NDIA

Make sure your service provider is licenced and registered with the NDIA, as this will provide you peace of mind that your requirements are being handled by skilled professionals who have the appropriate credentials  Before making your decision, you may check out a few providers’ credentials on the NDIA website so you know what to look for. Be sure to confirm if the business and its workers have the required qualifications and experience. There is nothing wrong with inquiring about your support worker’s training and abilities to ensure they are a good fit for you.

Are they the right fit?

Check that the NDIS Provider’s services will meet your personal needs and assist you in achieving the goals you’ve set. This is an important stage because it ensures that your plan is matched with your goals and allows you and your provider to monitor whether those goals are being reached. If they are not a good fit for you, you will be at a disadvantage. Your NDIS Support Worker should be someone with whom you feel at ease. You must have a high degree of confidence in them since they will play an active part in achieving your goals and will work together on activities, treatments and/or programmes.
